it is limited and whatever information is coming through will be fairly sketchy and coming from a variety of different sources. i have spoken to some locals here, we are getting conflicting reports. from what i can draw from my analysis of the situation, this was well intended, to cause as much harm as possible and therefore i think it's clear, obviously, a terrorist attack but by whom? ultimately the group or individual that this person has been inspired by to carry out this attack, is playing directly into the islamic state and extremist agenda who have taken credit for many of these attacks of late. tell us with your expertise what makes you think it was well—planned, particularly? it's particularly the time that the actual attack has taken place. we are ina actual attack has taken place. we are in a period of ramadan right now and inevitably, those that are following ramadan are fasting

obviously during daylight hours and it is after daylight hours they will be able to go to worship, they will be able to go to worship, they will be able to eat and break their fast, this was a perfect opportunity for that person with ill intent to have the largest congregation of locals in one vicinity and particularly outside this particular location. they were congregated in the street and therefore, with their vehicle, as we've seen in many different attacks in the past, its easy for them to take as many casualties and fatalities as they can. we know this particular man is in police custody at the moment, what will the counterterrorism police priorities be? the really important thing is that he's been taken alive, that is fa ntastically that he's been taken alive, that is fantastically useful for the authorities in their subsequent interviews of him. he is apparently being medically treated right now and that is a standard for and for many reasons that has to be done to

ensure that he is robust enough to be able to be interviewed as quickly as possible to try and determine if there are any others that could be connected to him, could be part of a larger cell group that was operating and get as much valuable intelligence as possible. it will be not just the standard processes we hear so much about of late in the wa ke hear so much about of late in the wake of terrorist events, looking at known associates, cellular and digital food known associates, cellular and digitalfood prints, no doubt going to his residence and those near him to his residence and those near him to try and determine what they can, but having the suspect actually alive is incredibly valuable. extra police deployed across london but how can you protect members of the public from this type of attack? this is the massive challenge right now and again, this is something which is going to require a lot of deep thinking. there are certain security measures that have been developed over time to protect against hostile vehicles, that

include ramps, lock gates, allsorts of various types of street furniture that can be employed, but they have to consider potentially the re—architecture and to consider potentially the re—architectu re and replanning to consider potentially the re—architecture and replanning of certain areas particularly where there could be a large pedestrian footfall but there are thousands if not millions of cars on the road every day in the uk and we need to address this pragmatically, be very careful not to knee jerk in our reaction because statistically, thankfully, at this stage, the attacks of terrorist utilising vehicles and causing harm to the general public are still much lower than those created by cars on an everyday sense. that's not to say this wasn't a horrific attack and there shouldn't be measures put in place but it has to be thought through very carefully. will, live from finsbury park, thank you. let's get some more reaction. joining us now live from our london newsroom is the assistant secretary general

of the muslim council of britain miqdaad versi. thank you so much for your time and i appreciate you holding on listening to our correspondent and security expert there. can i ask you firstly for your reaction? we are all shocked at what's happened, this has affected muslim communities near the mosque and muslin well for house and across the country and britain asa and across the country and britain as a whole, this is something that is shocking and something of this scale can happen and the fact it mightand scale can happen and the fact it might and could happen at other gatherings across the country. people gathering to break their fast and gather for night prayer that happened in this situation and that will continue every day and people have raised serious concerns for their own safety and the fear this might happen again and that's why we welcome very much for the metropolitan police, and sadiq khan the london mayor has said, extra

policing to reassure people because i think that's what we need. we have heard from several eyewitnesses on the scene and other people from your organisation as well talking about the fact that muslims feel deliberately targeted in this and is genuine fear of error from some people? very much so. i think the reality is that muslims have felt there is a large rise in hate crimes, it has been underreported and not investigated in the same way as bigotry against other communities. i think this is a transformative moment which hopefully will mean action is taken to tackle hate crime and the rise in hate crime against muslims taking place over the last few years and has seemed to reach a really worrying situation yesterday. what can be done to stop something like this? we hear from can be done to stop something like this? we hearfrom the met can be done to stop something like this? we hear from the met police there will be extra resources across london, particularly during the observation of ramadan but what can make a difference? as i said earlier

i think we have to be careful about a kneejerk reaction, it's i think we have to be careful about a knee jerk reaction, it's good there will be extra police to reassure the league that the people. i think there needs to be a range of things look that, starting from the way many of these individuals, far right extremists are spreading hate and that is seen as acceptable within many parts of broader society. baroness warsi talked clearly about how islam phobia or has passed the dinner table test, people seem to be able to talk a good about muslims and get away with it without people calling it out, thatis it without people calling it out, that is unacceptable and needs to stop. we have a situation for half the population according to some opinion polls and islam is a threat to western civilisation, these type of things happened because far right extremists peddle hatred and u nfortu nately extremists peddle hatred and unfortunately within some sections of the far right and within some sections of the media, they create this atmosphere of hostility and is very dangerous and needs to be tackled right now. we heard from our

security correspondent mentioning this morning that incidents like this morning that incidents like this play into the hands of the likes of islamic state? that's very true. whether it's the far—right or people who claim to be muslims and committing acts of terror, who want to divide us, who wa nt to terror, who want to divide us, who want to create hatred, but this wasn't an attack on muslims, it was an attack on our civilisation and our society. we care about tolerance. as british people we care about tolerance and respect for others and we can see this by the way that our prime minister, our home secretary, the mayor of london and the police have agented in a very swift, powerful way. this is a terror attack and it will not be tolerated and we hope that all the precursors to this will be looked at as in the same way as all forms of terrorism. the deputy commissioner from the met police said it was an attack on all londoners and london as well.

process. good morning again. good morning everybody. lots of people that i've talked to, talking about the uncertainty. this is a business which is very much, you know, trades on how consumer spending is going. so there, is a whale sale market and lots of people coming to buy stuff for local restau ra nts a nd coming to buy stuff for local restaurants and for shops as well. what they are bothered about are people going to be spending in the shops still and what does it mean for the prices? because we have seen with the currency market and the pound falling that put pressure on the prices. what is the next two yea rs the prices. what is the next two years going to look like. we have got the chief economist here from kpmg. explain the process, what the elements of it now? so there will be three stages that will be in theed. the first one is the exit negotiation, ie the divorce. then

its relationship in the future, the long—term relationship between the uk and the eu and quite possibly also a transitional arrangement to ta ke also a transitional arrangement to take us from one state to the other. if you're looking at the divorce element of this, what does that look like? so there will be quite a few things that need to be negotiated. there will be citizens rights issues, the rights of eu nationals in the uk and uk nationals in the eu. so there will be the financial settlements. at a minimum it is likely to cost the uk £48 billion which is 2.5% of gdp, there will be legal issues like property rights and there will be border issues in particular, the border between northern ireland and the republic of ireland and there will be policing and security issues that will need to be co—ordinated. and security issues that will need to be co-ordinated. it is so complex, isn't it, i was talking it a lady who advises people on negotiation and she said what is so hard, there is so many elements to it, it might not be the big things

that are the problem, it is the little things as well? when you look at the future there will be the negotiation of the future relationship in entry to the single market in terms of goods, services, and people and that would probably need to be negotiated sector by sector and even product by product and then you have the issue as future contributions to the eu as well as regulation that the eu would like the uk to continue and again, that would be regulation by regulation fksly because we're unlikely to get an off—the—shelf agreen belt. and in the meantime businesses like these ones have just got to carry on and, in terms of the economy at the moment, is it a worry all of this? so that represents quite a lot of uncertainty for businesses and for households, we have already seen the uk economy slowing quite significantly in the first quarter of this year so the worry is that this increase in
